Overview

The Business Operations Manager will provide administrative and management leadership to the operation of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. The position has chief responsibility within MSIP to act as primary manager in coordinating all administrative support activities including the management of human resources, creating and monitoring policies and procedures related to the MSU Black Box facilities, including direct oversight of the Box Office, and event coordination, and all MSIP administrative services. The Business Operations Manager will maintain fiscal oversight and budget management for all departmental and MSU Foundation funds, including monitoring expenditures, managing P-card activity, performing analyses, providing budget projections, and reallocation of resources when necessary; works independently in coordinating specific MSIP and MSU Black Box events, and administers the day-to-day financial operations of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks.

 
Duties and
Responsibilities

  1. Fiscal Manager: Creates, supervises, and performs all accounting and budgeting functions for the Department; budgets and oversees the main salaries, operations, and supplemental budget; provides accounting services for approximately 10 indexes; prepares budgets for three tours of Shakespeare in the Parks; serves as account manager for P-card transactions, including monthly report compilation;

  2. HR Liaison: Supervise and coordinate all HR functions related to MSIP. Serve as the first contact person for hiring and payroll issues; creates and processes various types of appointments for staff, contract employees and work study students; processes tax forms and all required new employee forms, reconciles payroll, submits EPAF’s, and approves timesheets.

  3. Operations Manager: Oversees the daily functions, workloads, and services of the department, supervises all contract employees, work-study students and MSIP volunteers.

Secondary duties assigned to this position:

  1. Coordinates all scheduling and expenses associated with the Black Box Theatre as needed.
  2. Manages all financial activity related to tour logistics.
  3. Other support duties as assigned.

 
Required
Qualifications
1.   Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or substantial experience performing financial management.
2.   Experience in fiscal management, basic accounting, and budgeting.
3.   Demonstrated skills in decision-making, personnel management, and problem solving.
4.   Experience organizing and managing events.
5.   Experience in communicating complex information effectively.
6.   Experience using computerized accounting systems, computer spreadsheets, database and word processing software.
 
Preferred
Qualifications
1.   Knowledge of MSU procedures and policies or previous experience working in an academic department in a higher education setting.
2.   Progressively responsible management experience.
3.   Experience, familiarity and/or affinity for theatre and the mission of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks.
