Founded in 1893 as a Land Grant University, Montana State University (MSU) is composed of eight academic colleges and a graduate school and boasts a friendly, supportive faculty and campus environment. | Overview |
The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Transportation Engineering at the level of Assistant Professor. CE degree offerings include BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering. Approximately 440 students are enrolled in these programs supported by over 20 full time faculty. The College of Engineering offers a PhD degree in Engineering with a Civil Engineering option. The Civil Engineering Department also works closely with the Western Transportation Institute (WTI) within the College of Engineering at MSU. WTI, with approximately a 40 person professional staff, conducts research on rural transportation issues and operations in the focus areas of 1) weather and winter mobility, 2) highway infrastructure design and maintenance, 3) rural applications of advanced technology, 4) transportation system wildlife interaction, and 5) public transportation mobility. Applicants with an interest in the broad area of rural transportation and/or transportation economics and statistics are encouraged to apply. The faculty position to be filled is a full-time tenure track appointment with primary responsibilities in teaching, research and service/outreach. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the CE program, with duties to include teaching courses in the department curriculum consistent with their background, working on program/curriculum development, developing a nationally recognized research program with extramural funding, and participating in professional/service activities. Contribute to CE undergraduate and graduate instruction, mentoring, and advising; develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; produce scholarly works; and participate in professional/service/outreach activities. | ||||||||
