Elizabeth A. Burroughs (Beth) is an associate professor of mathematics education in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Her research is focused on the preparation and continued professional development of K-12 mathematics teachers.
Burroughs is principal investigator of the Examining Mathematics Coaching project, a five-year $3.5 million NSF-funded project researching mathematics coaching. Over the last decade, she has led professional development for K-12 teachers in California and Montana, most recently supporting mathematics classroom coaches. She recently completed a term as board member of the Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics and chairs the Mathematical Association of America’s Committee on the Mathematical Education of Teachers.
She is a former high school mathematics teacher with a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of New Mexico.
