Outstanding Teaching Award
Description
The College of Letters & Science gives the Outstanding Teaching Award in each of the following categories:
- Excellence in classroom and laboratory teaching
- Excellence in teaching that enhances our University and College's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Excellence in mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Excellence in teaching that speaks to our land grant mission, reaching out to the broader Montana community
Faculty are encouraged to participate in the awards process. Click on the "nominate" button below. You will need a full name and email address to submit a nomination. Once we process your nomination, the Dean's Office will ask you to work with the nominee to provide supporting materials for the final nomination packet.
Since 1989, the College has recognized excellent teachers with the College of Letters and Science Outstanding Teaching Awards. We encourage nominations of instructional faculty and tenure-track faculty. These awards reaffirm our commitment to excellence in teaching, defined as "the set of activities performed by faculty that fosters student learning, critical and ethical thinking, problem-solving and creativity."

Eligibility & Stipulations
This is an initial nomination. The Dean's Office will contact the nominee, nominator and department head to initiate preparation of the actual nomination packet. The Dean's Office will include instructions in the follow-up email.
