Students in libraryThe College of Letters and Science (L&S) offers excellence in undergraduate education at a world-renowned research institution all within a beautiful and vibrant campus. L&S awards more degrees than any other college at MSU and does most of its undergraduate teaching. Undergraduate students have exceptional opportunities for research and one-on-one and small-group interaction with L&S senior faculty.

Graduate Students

Graduate education is thriving in the College of Letters and Science. Our outstanding students are being well prepared to take up their future roles as leaders in their academic fields, in education, and in society. L&S offers 17 Master's programs and 10 doctoral degree programs, including unique options such as Fish and Wildlife Management (M.S., Ecology), Native American Studies (M.A.), Public Administration (Political Science, M.S.), and History of the Environment (Ph.D., History and Philosophy).

Graduate student admissions are handled through the College of Graduate Studies.
