Each spring the Montana State University Alumni Association and the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce honor MSU's top senior students with the Award for Excellence. To be chosen as a student receipient is one of the greatest honors at MSU. In turn, each student chooses a faculty or staff person who has served as an inspiration as well as a great mentor during the student's time at MSU. The faculty or staff person also receives an Award for Excellence.
