Leadership Fellows Certificate Program

Welcome students from all majors!

Enhance your degree and discover your leadership potential by studying and practicing leadership in small group classes. The MSU
Leadership Fellows program incorporates interdisciplinary course work, self-study, service work and experiential education to empower
students to become positive agents of change.

Students receive a “Leadership Fellow” designation on their transcript, a meaningful credential for their resume, and real world practice at leadership. To earn the certificate and the transcript designation of MSU Leadership Fellow take:

  • Leadership Foundations/UC202 (3 cr.)
  • Leadership Capstone/UC 302 (1 cr.)
  • Within both courses, students will practice leadership skills by engaging in 10 hours of community/campus service and participating in MSU leadership events.
  • Leadership Electives (12 cr.) Choose a maximum of 6 credits from your discipline, plus the remaining credits from the approved list of electives.

Earn a grade of “C” (2.0) or better in each course used to satisfy the certificate. No “credit by exam” may be used.

Additional courses may be petitioned for approval by the program committee. For more information or to pursue the Leadership Fellows Certificate, contact Carmen McSpadden at cmcspadden@montana.edu
