Message from 2016-2017 MACRS President John Anderson:

Having served as a district representative for MACRS as well as 2nd and 1st Vice President, this position as MACRS President is a culmination of understanding how this association works and how I can best serve. As a county road supervisor there are many different hats one has to wear when dealing with the variety of folks this job requires.  This MACRS organization has been a real plus for me due to living in the country and being able to network with like-minded people. If you have any issues or are needing some kind of specific training, please let me know or any of the District Reps or other Officers. We will be planning the fall MACRS meetings in June and then will have a fall planning meeting for the 2017 spring conference. Get your ideas to me as soon as possible so we have enough time to get the agenda in place.

Through MACRS and our partnership with Montana LTAP, training topics and workshops have been provided based on your requests. Coordination of our spring conference through Montana LTAP has been effective in providing the best conference possible for not only county road employees, but for our county commissioners--over 40 county commissioners attended the 2016 spring conference. As we meet the challenges of floods, droughts, and blizzards, those who keep informed through training and sharing information with their county neighbors are able to meet the demand of the public to keep our county roads safe.

MACRS 37th Annual Conference will be held at the Heritage Inn, Great Falls, Montana, March 27 - 30, 2017. This roster of officers will meet in June and then in November to plan our conference. As MACRS President, I look forward to working with this outstanding group of 2016 - 2017 MACRS officers and representatives.

Also be sure to let everyone know about the MACRS Scholarship for students working toward employment in the transportation industry. Click here for more information and application: MACRS Scholarship - Fall Semester Deadline - August 15th; and Spring Semester Deadline -December 15th.
