MAP Checkpoint Review
(Part 1A of PPR Form)

Checkpoint Review meetings occur periodically through the annual cycle of the Performance Development Program. It is important to set aside time for at least one*, preferably two, formal check-in that revisits the original Performance Plan and examines progress to date. This is the ideal time for a supervisor and employee to review the original Performance Plan and engage in productive, performance-based communication.
  • Bring to the meeting current copies of the Performance Planning & Review Form.
  • Review the employee's progress toward the goals.
  • Is progress being made on the development of the pertinent Job Success Factor(s)? How so?
  • Are priorities and goals determined earlier being accomplished?
  • Have there been changes in the department or University priorities and goals that require changes in the original Performance Plan? If necessary, explain modifications to the Performance Plan on the completed on the Performance Planning & Review Form.
  • How can you as the supervisor help the employee if goals are not being met?
  • As a supervisor, you may find that you need to provide coaching, additional resources, and/or more direct supervision.
  • Complete Part 1A of the Planning & Review Form.

*UM affiliated campuses require two (2) Checkpoint Reviews. MSU affiliated campuses required one (1) Checkpoint Review.
