Claude Smith moved to Grand Forks, ND from Flint, MI at the age of 11. All of his extended family worked in the automotive manufacturing industry in Flint or Detroit. A very successful athlete in high school and college, Claude graduated from Jamestown University with a B.A. in Biology and a Chemistry minor. He worked for the US Department of Energy for two years before going to work for The Pillsbury Company. He worked in various Pillsbury and Green Giant facilities in the areas of Quality Assurance and then Operations. He was trained as a Statistical Process Control trainer and spent several years travelling and instructing plant personnel in Total Quality Management in addition to his own factory responsibilities. Through the years Claude has worked for several food manufacturing companies using many different technologies and has filled roles as diverse as QA Supervisor, QA Manager, Process Control Manager, Production Manager, Warehouse Manager, Plant Engineer, Environmental Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager, Entrepreneur, and Consultant.
Claude lives in Great Falls, MT with his wife and dogs.
