Montana native Mary Ann Jacobson completed her undergraduate studies in English and Music Education at Eastern Montana College in Billings. She received her M.M. in Performance (both Clarinet and Voice) from the University of Montana in Missoula, and a D.M.A. in Clarinet Performance from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Dr. Jacobson is founder of the Llano Estaccato Trio, which has performed in Texas, New Mexico, and Montana. She has taught in public schools (K-12), at the university level, and maintains a private studio. A member of the Billings Symphony Orchestra for fourteen years, Dr. Jacobson has played in regional symphonies throughout Montana, Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming. She currently plays in the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra, the Gallatin Woodwind Quintet, and sings in the Montana Chorale. Dr. Jacobson has presented clarinet workshops in rural Montana schools and is frequently sought to adjudicate at Solo and Ensemble Festivals.
