Opera Workshop

The opera workshop presents staged operatic/musical theater scenes and chamber opera. The workshop is constructed to build the vocal ability of select vocalists developing solo opera ability. It is intended to give students the opportunity to experience performing a live opera. Being accompanied by the Orchestra da Camera vocalists in the workshop will also experience orchestra accompanied singing. Recent works have included the one-act opera Bastien and Bastienna by Mozart, and Handel's Aces & Galatea.

 

University Chorus

The University Chorus is a non-auditioned choir open to all MSU students. It is intended for people who simply share a passion for singing and hope to build upon their vocal strengths. With a full choir setting this choir peforms many different periods of music well. It rehearses three times per week and performs in concert two times per semester. Its repertoire includes representative works from all historical periods.
