Dr. Nathan Stark is Director of Bands at Montana State University where he directs the 190-member "Spirit of the West" Marching Band and conducts the Wind Symphony. Nathan earned his doctoral degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University and has trained as a wind band conductor at the College Band Directors National Association Conducting Symposium at the University of Boulder. He is active throughout the Northwest as a clinician, conductor, and adjudicator, and often presents lectures and workshops on instrumental music education, student leadership, and performance psychology.
Prior to coming to Montana, Dr. Stark held faculty positions in marching band and music education at Case Western Reserve University and Boise State University. He is in demand as a marching band drill designer and has crafted dozens of field shows for bands in Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii. Nathan has also performed extensively as a (French) horn player, and has toured the nation as a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard drum and bugle corps.
