Susan Wadsworth graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with High Honors and received a Masters of Music degree from Boston University. She was a fellow at Tanglewood following graduation and became a member of the National Symphony that year. She later became a member of the Orquestra Sinfonica of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she recorded with RCA of Brazil. Upon returning from Brazil, Susan spent several years as a freelancer in the Boston and Denver areas. During that time she played with numerous orchestras including the Handel and Haydn Society, the Boston Opera, the Boston and Denver Ballets and with both the Boston Symphony and Denver Symphony as a substitute player. In addition she toured with the Goldofsky Opera Company for several seasons and performed in music festivals in Paros, Greece; Campos do Jordao, Brazil; Grand Tetons, Wyoming and Red Lodge, Montana.
Ms. Wadsworth has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder, MSU-Billings and Rocky Mountain College. She was principal bassoonist of the Billings Symphony for 20 years including being featured as a soloist in Vivaldi's Concerto for Bassoon in C Major and has also played with the Bozeman Symphony. Currently she is teaching in the Bozeman Public Schools and plays with the Intermountain Opera Company and the Yellowstone Chamber Players. She has one daughter, Maegan, who is an archeologist currently on a fellowship at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
