Yellowtail tabbed as MSU endowed chair in Native American Studies
William Yellowtail, a Crow Indian who was once was the regional director of the Environmental Protection Agency, will occupy the Montana State University Katz Endowed Chair in Native American Studies. Yellowtail said he would develop curriculum and leadership activities that will center on the "personal Indian sovereignty" as well as the future of Native peoples in the West. Yellowtail is the second occupant of the MSU endowed chair in Native American Studies. Deer to speak at MSU Berger Lecture set Sept. 21
Ada Deer, who served as the first female Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs under the Clinton administration, will deliver the 2006 Phyllis Berger Memorial Lecture on Sept. 21. Deer's lecture, "Politics, Problems, and Possibilities," is free and open to the general public. MSU Department of Native American Studies sponsors the lecture. Read more...
     
MSU American Indian Council Pow Wow set April 14-15
The 31st annual Montana State University American Indian Council Pow Wow is scheduled April 14 and 15 in MSU's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The pow wow is one of the largest in Montana. Throughout all sessions booths offering the crafts of traditional artists and artisans are open around the edge of the dance arena. All pow wow events are free and open to all. Read more...
