The overall goal of Montana Food Stamp Nutrition Education is to provide food stamp recipients and applicants with information and educational opportunities that will help them develop skills and behaviors leading to improved nutritional well-being and increased ability to manage resources.

By becoming a Partner, you can:

  • Increase your nutrition education resources by 50% (In other words, once your program is approved, you will be supported by a federal dollar for every dollar your agency matches towards nutrition education for low-income audiences)
  • Initiate or expand nutrition education in your community
  • Share and learn from other nutrition educators

This program covers activities that are designed for the purpose of motivating, within a limited budget, healthy eating and lifestyle behaviors. Examples of allowable expenses include:

  • Food demonstrations
  • Nutrition education classes
  • Nutrition education materials
  • Staff training related to nutrition education for low-income audiences
  • Personnel and adminsitrative costs associated with nutrition education
