Agee Earns All-America Kudos With Record Clearance

Shannon Agee

Montana State pole-vaulter Shannon Agee set a new school and Big Sky Conference record clearing 13-feet, 1.5-inches to place tenth at last week's 2001 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

Agee, a junior from Helena, was the seventh Unites States finisher and earned All-America honors for her efforts at the March 10 conference.

"I felt very comfortable and had good energy," Agee said. "It was a goal of mine to achieve All-America status and I'm pleased with my effort."

Thorey Elisdottir of Georgia won the event with a NCAA meet record of 14-feet, 9.5-inches.

"She has been a consistent performer all season," said MSU assistant coach Tom Eitel, who oversees the Bobcat pole-vault contingent. "It was an amazing day of competition in the event and Shannon accomplished her goal."

Agee will now prepare for Montana State's outdoor season, which will begin in a couple of weeks.
