"Every Body is Beautiful," an exploration on how young people see
beauty in themselves and others, will air from 7-80 p.m. tongiht
on Montana PBS. It is sponsored, in part, by several departments
at Montana State University.
"Every Body is Beautiful" features taped segments of teens
talking about the aspects of their lives that help them feel good
about themselves. A panel of experts will explore ways for people
to feel confident, regardless of size or shape.
The panel moderator is KTVM news anchor Amy Jacobs. Panel members
include Lynn Paul, MSU Food and Nutrition specialist; Kirk
Astroth, 4-H Youth Development specialist; Mary Stein, health and
human development project coordinator; and MSU student Natalie
Karnowski.
The program will also have a live studio audience.
"This television program is a first in Montana for showing how
many different Montana teens have found ways to create positive
self-esteem and help them resist the current emphasis on beauty
and the incredible pressure to be thin," Paul said.
"Every Body is Beautiful" can be a resource for students,
teachers, parents and others interested in fostering a positive
body image among young people.
Program sponsors include the MSU Extension Service, the Food and
Nutrition Program, Student Dietetic Association, MSU Department
of Health and Human Development and the Student Health Service.
Major financial support was provided by the Montana Beef Council.
