MSU Pow Wow set this weekend

The 26th annual Montana State University American Indian Club Pow Wow will be held Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7, at Shroyer Gym on the MSU campus.

The pow wow is scheduled from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and from noon to midnight Saturday. The two-day event has been moved to Shroyer from it usual location, the MSU fieldhouse, to accommodate the Monster Trucks show that will be held this weekend in the fieldhouse. However, the pow wow, which is free and open to the public, will continue to include all its usual events including the Native-style singing and dancing as well as craft tables.

Grand entries are set for 6 p.m. Friday, and noon and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7. Master of Ceremonies is Corky Old Horn of Crow Agency, the White Clay Singers of Fort Belknap is the Host Drum group and the Birney Singers is the Honor Drum group. Head woman dancer is Michelle Show, a senior from Poplar. Neil Sun Rhodes, from the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming, is head man dancer.

Prize money will be given for Crow Women's Traditional, the Hand Drum Contest and the Junior Girls Fancy Dance. A men and women's basketball tournament will be held in Friday and Saturday conjunction with the pow wow as well as a 5K fun run Saturday.

The pow wow is free and the public is welcome to enjoy Native-style singing and dancing.
