Montana State University honored its outstanding students at the
annual Day of Student Recognition, April 29. The awards and
students who won them follows:
Roland R. Renne Award - The highest honor presented to a
senior man, based upon leadership, scholarship, and contributions
to MSU: Leonard Armstrong.
Erma Lessel Collins Senior Award - The highest honor
presented to a senior woman, based upon leadership, scholarship,
and contributions to MSU: Laura Beckman.
Outstanding Graduate Student Award - Lisa Surber.
Outstanding Fifth Year Senior Award - Brian Nash, Michelle
Show.
Junior Attainment Plaques - One junior woman and one
junior man who have made contributions to MSU and show promise
for the future: Eric Gomke, Kathy Laubach.
Outstanding Sophomore Award - Laura Gamradt.
Outstanding Freshman Award - James Hicks, Serenity
Atkinson.
Michael and Kathleen Malone Freshman Seminar Award - Two
scholarships given in the honor of Michael and Kathleen Malone's
commitment to the General Studies Freshman Seminar: Anne Skildum,
James Hicks.
Margaretha Wessel General Studies Scholarship - Given in
honor of Margaretha Wessel, the director of General Studies for
25 years: Deja Galloway.
University Honors Program Service Award - Awarded to the
student who gives continued and voluntary service which benefits
the University Honors Program and the Bozeman community: Jon
Iverson.
Dean's Award for Excellence - College of Letters &
Science: Siobahn Everson-Stewart, Colleen Muzynoski.
Marjorie Paisley Award - Awards given to junior women who
have demonstrated outstanding campus service: Nicole Chinadle,
Kyrie Marks, Courtney Trout.
Sue Burton Cannon Memorial Award - Award for the
outstanding junior woman in the Department of Modern Languages:
Kathy Laubach.
Roskie Memorial Award - Undergraduate student who has
shown outstanding leadership qualities: Kathy Laubach.
Christy Foundation Scholarships - Two scholarships awarded
to students bringing special recognition to MSU based upon
meritorious community leadership and service: Wyeth Anderson,
Michelle Galvin.
Earlene Hart Memorial Scholarships - A scholarship awarded
to a sophomore or junior majoring in nursing or foods and
nutrition: Heather Seilstad.
Lawrence Hiller Scholarship - Scholarships for students
with disabilities: Peter Arnone, Lisa Hathaway.
Paul Johnston Memorial Scholarship - Scholarship awarded
to a student who has a disability. It is based on financial need
and scholastic achievement: Sam Anderson.
Mary McClure Orientation Award - Presented to a Student
Orientation Leader: Justin Schwartz.
Becoming Our Best Award - Recognition of two students for
outstanding participation in the Becoming Our Best Program, a
freshman year peer mentoring program from the First Year
Initiative Office: April Taber, Angela Buer.

Alpha Lambda Delta Senior Book Award - Book given in
memory of Maria Leonard, founder of National Alpha Lambda Delta,
to the senior member with the highest grade point average based

Alpha Lambda Delta individual awards - Awarded to the
full-time student having the highest grade point average in the
sophomore, junior, and senior classes, based on credits carried
