![]() MSU graduates 2,369 students
Montana State University-Bozeman plans to confer approximately
2,369 degrees at the university's 105th annual commencement at 10
a.m. Saturday, May 12 in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. MSU's new
president, Geoffrey Gamble, will deliver the charge to the
graduates.
MSU-Bozeman anticipates awarding 1,915 bachelor's degrees, 402
master's degrees and 52 doctorates. Three honorary doctorate
degrees will be awarded. The recipients are: James Welch, one of
the major figures of contemporary Native American fiction; Walen
Frances "Bud" Lilly, one of the West's pioneer trout
conservationists; and Klein Gilhousen, one of the founders of
Qualcomm, a communications company based in San Diego, Calif.
MSU plans to award the 80,000th degree in its more than a century
history to a student during this commencement. The student will
be identified during the ceremony.
Following this year's commencement, MSU-Bozeman expects to have
awarded 80,975 degrees since the institution was founded in 1893.
