Free tickets for the author and activist Maya Angelou's Sept. 13 lecture at Montana State University's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse sold out in just over an hour after they were released today, organizers said.

"We anticipated an outstanding community response to Dr. Angelou's free lecture at Montana State University, and we would like to remind all ticket holders that they must be seated by 7:15 p.m.," said Carmen McSpadden, director of the MSU Leadership Institute. She added that there were just over 3,400 total number of seats available for the event.

McSpadden said that any unoccupied general admission seats will be made available to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis, beginning at 7:20 p.m.

McSpadden said those people who would like to stand-by for the released seats must form a waiting line at the west entrance doors of the fieldhouse.

Angelou is considered one of America's greatest voices of contemporary African-American literature, in addition to being a celebrated poet, memoirist, educator, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist.

Doors to Brick Breeden Fieldhouse will open at 6:30 p.m. the night of the event. Parking at MSU is free after 6 p.m. McSpadden emphasized that those with tickets must be seated by 7:15 p.m. or their seats may be released.
