An international expert in the sociology of Islam will deliver a free public lecture about "The Arab Awakening" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in room 105 of Reid Hall on the Montana State University campus.

Emilio Ferrin, a professor at the University of Seville in Seville, Spain, will discuss the fight for democracy in Arab countries and the impact on international politics.

Ferrin specializes in Al-Andalus and contemporary Arabic questions such as the recent Arab revolutions. He is the author of 11 books, including his most recent book, "Al-Andalus Revisted," which was published in 2009.
