Famed rock band Kansas will perform with the Montana State University Symphony at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in MSU's Shroyer Gymnasium.

"We think this will be a great opportunity for our students to work with seasoned professional performers," said Greg Young, interim director of the MSU School of Music.

Young explained that Kansas has been playing with collegiate orchestras since the 35th anniversary of the live DVD release, "There's Know Place Like Home," and now performs to promote the value of music education.

"It's a win-win situation for the band and for our students," he said. He said he expects that the concert will include many classic Kansas songs such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." For more information about the band, go to its website,

Tickets for the event are $40 or $50, $25 for students, and are now on sale at the MSU Fieldhouse box office, all Ticketswest outlets, by calling 1-800-808-5940 or online at
