BOZEMAN – The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) will offer a workshop on lean manufacturing techniques from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday,  July 25, at the Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell to help businesses increase productivity and competitiveness.

The workshop, led by Bill Nicholson, the region’s MMEC field engineer, costs $195 and includes a live factory simulation to demonstrate the results of using lean methods. Lunch will be provided. Attendees must register in advance.

Lean manufacturing techniques can reduce waste at companies by cutting down on overproduction and overstocked inventories, which frees up money for other purposes.

For more information, call the MMEC at (406) 994-3812 or visit the MMEC registration site at http://www.etouches.com/66711 for details and online registration.

MMEC is an outreach center in the Montana State University College of Engineering.
