Montana State University is set to begin its search for a new chief information officer.

A 10-member committee has been formed to conduct the national search. Associate Provost Ron Larsen is the search committee’s chair.

“Our new chief information officer will provide important oversight, management and strategic planning for the university's information technology infrastructure,” Larsen said. “We anticipate a strong pool of candidates, and we look forward to selecting a person who will continue to advance the university’s information technology goals in the university’s strategic plan.”

MSU’s chief information officer is responsible for the university’s IT Center operations that promote, develop and deliver information technology services and resources to the MSU campus. The CIO will be a member of MSU's senior leadership team and report to MSU President Waded Cruzado and Provost Martha Potvin

MSU's IT Center has responsibilities for the university IT infrastructure including the campus data networking and systems; classroom learning technology; information security; the campus telephone system; the university-wide administrative software system; and the Web infrastructure and user support services. To learn more, see The full CIO position description is available at

The new chief information officer will succeed Dewitt Latimer, who passed away in May. Since May 23, Adam Edelman has served as interim chief information officer and Anne Milkovich has served as interim associate chief information officer.
