Montana State University expects around 1,000 students will receive degrees during MSU's 119th fall commencement, set for Saturday, Dec. 14.

MSU will confer degrees on candidates for graduation for fall 2013, according to Bonnie Ashley, MSU registrar. This fall semester, there are expected to be approximately 800 undergraduate students and 138 graduate students receiving degrees. In addition, 179 master’s and doctoral students who graduated in the summer will be eligible to participate in fall commencement.

The ceremony for all MSU colleges will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at MSU's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, with the processional beginning at 9:40 a.m. During the ceremony, Philip Aaberg, a Montana native who rose to international prominence as a keyboardist, composer and musician with some of the world's most iconic bands, will receive an honorary doctorate in music. He will also deliver the charge to the graduates and perform on the piano.
