BOZEMAN – Montana State University Extension in Gallatin County received a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to develop a program for wetland monitoring.

Brad Bauer, MSU Extension agent for natural resources in Gallatin County, will lead the monitoring program.

The funding will establish annual monitoring of wetland conditions across ecologically significant watersheds in Gallatin County, Montana. The monitoring will establish baseline conditions and illuminate trends in wetland health. The monitoring will rely on staff and volunteer time and will provide opportunities for public education on wetland health.

If you are interested in learning more about the monitoring program or to volunteer, the MSU Extension office in Gallatin County can be reached by calling (406) 388-3213, or e-mailing brad.bauer@montana.edu or in person at 201 West Madison, Ste. 300, in Belgrade.
