Montana State University College of Agriculture and MSU Extension faculty have created a report for Montana agricultural producers that highlights research-based information for the state’s agricultural and Extension community.
The report, “The MSU College of Agriculture and Extension Research Report,” is designed to showcase research being conducted by MSU College of Agriculture and Extension faculty throughout Montana. Megan Van Emon, MSU Extension beef cattle specialist, and Emily Glunk, MSU Extension forage specialist, compiled the report.
“We wanted to provide applied research-based information pertinent to Montana agricultural Extension agents and producers,” Van Emon said. “The mission of the report is to enhance agricultural production in Montana by disseminating readily available and accessible research-based information. In turn, we also hope this provides an opportunity for producers to give us feedback on our research priorities.”
The goals of the publication include facilitating timely research amongst producers that will serve as a decision-making tool to help increase on-farm production and management, Van Emon said.
She added the report is the first of its kind for producers and includes 15 articles showcasing research compiled by MSU College of Agriculture, MSU Extension, United States Department of Agriculture and several additional agricultural funding agencies. Research topics include areas reflective of Montana’s agricultural industry: ruminant nutrition, grazing, plant pathology, soils, livestock reproduction, wildlife and livestock genetics.
