Jenni West, associate director of Montana State University’s Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, and Angelyn DeYoung, international trade officer at the Montana Department of Commerce, have been elected to lead the Montana District Export Council. They will hold the positions of chair and vice chair, respectively, for the next two calendar years. West and DeYoung replace Webb Brown, president/CEO of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, and Paddy Fleming, center director of MSU’s Montana Manufacturing Extension Center, as chair and vice chair, respectively.
Closely affiliated with the U.S. Commerce Department’s Export Assistance Centers and the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, the Montana District Export Council is one of 59 nationally working to strengthen American exports.
The council is a volunteer organization that seeks to:
- Promote the export of Montana goods and services to strengthen the state's economy
- Identify issues affecting Montana’s competitiveness in the global marketplace and advocating on behalf of Montana businesses
- Promote the importance of trade to Montana's economic performance
- Enhance the efforts of the Montana U.S. Export Assistance Center
