BOZEMAN - Montana State University’s Extended University has opened a Feb. 9 grant writing boot camp after a course on Feb. 2 filled to capacity. Participants in either session will learn effective strategies for successful grant writing and leave with new ideas and writing samples that can be incorporated into their next grant proposal. Each participant will also receive one free proposal review from the instructor.

The workshop is designed in particular for non-profit staff and volunteers who are writing foundation grants. The day will be most relevant for beginners and advanced beginners: those who have never written a grant proposal or who have written just a few grants with marginal success.

The instructor is Laura Rhodes of Third Sector Consulting, a certified grant writer and nonprofit funding consultant. Rhodes specializes in prospect research, as well as grant writing support for organizations that want to write their own grants. She also leads workshops, webinars, retreats and fundraising training for nonprofit staff and boards. Rhodes has more than 15 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising and nonprofit development. She has worked on staff and also served as a board member for numerous nonprofit organizations. Prior to starting her consulting business, Rhodes was a program officer with the American Express Foundation.

The course is $299 and enrollment is limited to 16.
