Lisa Sun Rhodes, a Montana State University senior majoring in microbiology, recently attended the Minority Trainee Research Forum at the National Health Institutes in Bethesda, Md. Only 12 undergraduate students in the nation were selected to participate. Sun Rhodes presented a paper titled "Characterization of zicl expression in neural development of early chick embryos" at the forum. She has been researching this topic the past two years with Christa Merzdorf, assistant professor in cell biology and neuroscience at MSU. Sun Rhodes is a member of the Northern Arapahoe tribe and grew up near Fort Peck.
