Tim Ford, head of the microbiology department at Montana State University, has been selected to receive the first Gen-Probe Joseph Award from the American Society for Microbiology. Ford will receive his award May 22 in Orlando, Fla. where he will be the honored guest and lecturer at the society's general meeting. The award given in memory of J. Mehsen Joseph honors a distinguished microbiologist who has exhibited exemplary leadership and service in the field of public health. Ford's specialty is environmental health and water. As winner of the award, Ford will receive a $2,000 cash prize, a commemorative piece and a $2,000 travel stipend.
