Michael Berry has joined the civil engineering department in the College of Engineering at Montana State University as an assistant research professor. Berry earned a doctorate in structural engineering from the University of Washington in 2006.

Berry will conduct structural engineering research, much of it related to reinforced concrete. His work has wide-ranging applications for the construction industry. It includes modeling how reinforced concrete columns behave when subjected to seismic loads, using recycled materials to replace cement and aggregate in reinforced concrete, and replacing steel rebar with glass fiber reinforced polymers in compression members.
