Organizers of a conference at Montana State University are seeking female professionals who can present and serve as role models for junior high-aged girls interested in science and math careers. The annual conference, called Expanding Your Horizons, takes place Saturday, April 25, on the MSU campus.

EYH is a national program that, since 1992, is hosted locally by MSU's Extended University outreach program. Annually, more than 190 girls from all around Montana attend and participate in science and math activities ranging from robots to fossils to personal finance.

Bozeman area volunteers who would like to share their expertise and enthusiasm in math and science can contact the program organizer to develop a 40-minute workshop topic and hands-on activity. Training is offered for new presenters.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to expose young women to exciting math and science careers and encourage them to pursue math and science courses in high school and college," said Susan Byorth, of MSU Extended University.

Business and organizations that are interested in financial or in-kind sponsorships are also encouraged to participate.

The deadline is Feb. 27. Contact Susan Byorth at sbyorth@montana.edu or (406) 243-5701, or visit http://eu.montana.edu/ContinuingEd/youth/
