MSU sets commencement ceremonies May 9

Montana State University's 113th commencement is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9.

Due to recent inclement weather, construction work on the intersection of South 19th Street and College Avenue has been delayed. This intersection may still be closed on Saturday, May 9th.

Montana State University expects 2,573 students will receive degrees, according to Chuck Nelson, MSU registrar.

Graduates from MSU's eight academic colleges meet for the main ceremony in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. This spring there are 2,068 candidates for bachelor's degrees, 451 candidates for master's degrees and 54 candidates for doctoral degrees.

MSU President Geoff Gamble will deliver the charge to the graduates.

MSU will also confer honorary doctorates on Carole Falcon-Chandler , president of Montana's Fort Belknap Tribal College, and George Keremedjiev, founder and director of the American Computer Museum in Bozeman. Follow the above links for a story about these two distinguished honorary doctorates.

Three of MSU's colleges will hold individual ceremonies before the main event. The times and locations are as follows:
College of Nursing
10 a.m. Friday, May 8, Shroyer Gym
College of Agriculture
8 a.m., Saturday, May 9, North Gym--Physical Education Complex.
College of Education, Health and Human Development
8 a.m., Saturday, May 9, Shroyer Gym - Physical Education Complex.

Five colleges will have individual college ceremonies after the university commencement. Those ceremonies will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. Those colleges are:

College of Arts and Architecture
North Gym-Physical Education Complex
College of Business
Student Union Building Ballrooms
College of Engineering
Shroyer Gym-Physical Education Complex
College of Letters and Science
Worthington Arena - Fieldhouse
University College
Worthington Arena - Fieldhouse
