Work on finding a new president for Montana State University is proceeding on schedule, according to Clayton Christian, chair of the MSU Presidential Search Advisory Committee and vice chair of the Montana Board of Regents.

With the application deadline having closed on Wednesday, the committee ended with "an exceptionally strong pool of 60 applications from throughout the U.S.," Christian said.

The pool included a number of highly experienced leaders from major land-grant research universities; those with experience in leading multi-site universities; as well as non-traditional applicants from the public and private sectors.

The committee has already identified a group from the pool for a second level of vetting. That work will continue through the next few weeks with an update to follow, Christian said.
