BOZEMAN -- A book written by Timothy LeCain, associate professor in the Department of History and Philosophy at Montana State University, was named an Outstanding Academic Title for 2009 by Choice, the review journal of the American Library Association.

Every January, Choice publishes a list of Outstanding Academic Titles. The list reflects the best of more than 7,000 scholarly titles that it reviewed during the previous year.

Choice said LeCain's book -- "Mass Destruction: The Men and Giant Mines that Wired America and Scarred the Planet" -- was "skillfully and eloquently written." Its "clarity and reason ... should appeal to a wide audience." For more information, go to
