The 11th annual "Can the Griz" food drive is nearing its end having collected just over 6,000 pounds as of Tuesday, Nov. 16. But much more needs to be done to beat last year's total of 14,451 pounds collected.

The winner of the drive will be announced at halftime of the Cat/Griz game in Missoula on Saturday, Nov. 20.

Donations can be made on campus at collection bins/boxes in the SUB outside of room 286 across from the Procrastinator Theater; in Montana Hall outside of the President's Office; in the lobby of Culbertson Hall, or in the lobby of any residence hall.

Donations can also be made in the Gallatin Valley Food Bank's collection bins at the front of Albertson's, in either the 19th Street or 11th Street Town and Country stores or in Roseaur's. All food left in the these grocery store bins this week will be food counted toward the Can the Griz competition.

Donations can also be made at the Gallatin Valley Food Bank at 602 Bond Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.

Donations can also be made online at Every dollar equals one pound.

In connection with the 11th annual Cat/Griz Food Drive, the MSU Office for Community Involvement and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank are co hosting an exhibit, "Empty Plates: Touching Stories of those who rely on the Food Bank" currently on display at the Emerson Cultural Center through the month of November.

Community members are invited to come and read stories of those using the food bank, become better informed on the hunger crisis, and brainstorm solutions to help our neighbors who are hungry.
