There will be no Jennifer Lopez and no Steven Tyler, but more than 20 talented singers are expected to compete in the fourth annual Montana State University Idol competition to be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, in MSU's Reynolds Recital Hall as a fundraiser for the MSU Department of Music.

Kirk Aamot, director of the MSU Chorale, which sponsors the competition, said the winner of Friday night's finals will win $200.

"It's a great event," Aamot. "It's a competition for the entire campus."

Competitors must be MSU students and will have competed at preliminary audition round.

Aamot said proceeds from the competition will be used to help fund the MSU Chorale's European tour in May 2012.

Tickets for the competition are $3 for students, $5 general admission, and can be purchased at the door.
