BOZEMAN -- A free public lecture focusing on the role and history of introductory statistics courses will be given Thursday, April 14, at Montana State University.

Dan Schafer, professor and department chair in the Department of Statistics at Oregon State University, will speak at 3:10 p.m. in the Procrastinator Theater in the Strand Union Building. His lecture, titled "The Pressures, Pitfalls and Possibilities of the Introductory Statistics Course," is part of MSU's Mathematical Sciences Colloquium Series.

The lecture is sponsored by MSU's Department of Mathematical Sciences, the dean of the College of Letters and Science, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Creativity and Technology Transfer, and the ASMSU Procrastinator Theater.
