The EMT Basic Course will be taught 6:30-10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 30 through Dec. 8. The course covers essential skills required of emergency medical technicians. It will prepare students for the state and national written and practical exams. Students who successfully pass the exams will be certified to perform life-saving skills as EMTs in a pre-hospital setting.
Tuition for the course is $740 for non-credit students. This course can also be taken for academic credit at an additional charge.
John Alston, EMT-B, will teach the class. Those who are interested in attending the course must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and must not have been convicted of certain felony charges.
Enrollment is limited and students who apply must also interview with the course instructor. The application deadline is April 22 and interviews will be held on Saturday, April 30.
