BOZEMAN - A new course from Montana State University's Extended University will help users of WordPress, a popular Web site and blogging software, maximize their skills.

The course, "Advanced WordPress," will begin May 9 and is designed for people who have a basic understanding of WordPress but want to enrich their online presence with plug-ins, custom menus and templates and search engine optimization.

WordPress is a free online software platform that allows people to blog and develop customized Web sites. Students should have a basic working knowledge of WordPress; those who have questions about the software, their skill level or the course should contact instructor Jake Cook at

The course will be held Monday, May 9, and Wednesday, May 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Extended University's Downtown Education Center, located at 20 E. Olive in Bozeman.

The cost is $85, with a 25 percent discount for members of the Bozeman or Big Sky Chamber of Commerce or Prospera Business Network.
