Courses, Textbooks & Payment

Courses

Northern Plains Transition to Teaching classes are designed by the Department of Education at Montana State University and delivered through the Burns Telecom Center via the WebCT course management system. Each of the eight courses is a three (3) credit, graduate level course. Courses range in length from eight weeks to twelve weeks and follow a prescribed progression. The course numbers are EDCI 552 through EDCI 559. Those accepted into the program can access the courses they are registered for at http://webct.montana.edu/.  For descriptions of the courses please click here.  Confirmation of registration will be emailed to students the in the week preceding the course start date.

Registration

Registration for NPTT courses occurs online through the Extended University at MSU.

Payment

NPTT incoming students are expected to submit their payments in full at the time of registration and adhere to all applicable Montana State University and Extended University policies (http://eu.montana.edu/credit/policy.htm).

Those NPTT participants who were admitted prior to the 2007-2008 academic year, who accepted scholarships will have their licensure courses paid for once. Please note that this scholarship is no longer available to incoming students.  Should a student fail a course, withdraw from a course after the point where there is no tuition refund or for whatever other reason need to retake a course, it will be at the student's expense. Payment for courses associated with the requirements for the master of education degree only (i.e. beyond those required for licensure/certification) are the sole responsibility of the student.

Dropping a Course

It is the student's responsibility to be cognizant of the courses they have registered for, their progress in those courses, and the drop/withdrawal policies associated with the courses. The dates for dropping a course with no grade and dropping a course with a "W" (withdraw) are dependant on course length. Extended University administrative policies regarding drop dates can found at http://eu.montana.edu/credit/policy.htm.

Drop requests should be submitted to the Extended University Registration Coordinator at 406-994-7027 or continuinged@montana.edu. When dropping a course please also inform the NPTT program offices at 406-994-5662 or nptt@montana.edu.

Refund Policy

All drops will be assessed a minimum $50 administrative fee. Refunds are dependent on course length and are calculated according to Burns Telecommunication Center/Extended University policies (http://eu.montana.edu/credit/policy.htm).

Textbooks

A list of textbooks required for the entire program (as of 8/28/05), some with links to vendors, is available at http://www.montana.edu/nptt/textbooks.html.  Please not that this list is subject to change, so please do not purchase all textbooks up front.

Course Schedule

While tentative, program length course schedules for the 06-1, 06-2 & 06-3 cohorts (those starting in the 2005-2006 academic year), the 07-1, 07-2 & 07-3 cohorts (starting in the 2006-2007 academic year), the 08-1, 08-2, and 08-3 cohorts (starting September of 2007-2008 academic year), and the 09-1, 09-2, and 09-3 cohorts  (starting September of 2008-2009 academic year) are available, official course dates are posted below.
