Praxis II

Praxis II Requirements

All NPTT students are required to take and pass the appropriate Praxis II Content area test for each approved major and minor endorsement area sought. This requirement is regardless of the state in which you eventually apply for licensure. Please note that it is important to look at your state requirement if you are seeking licensure outside of Montana, as requirements differ from state to state and change frequently. The test(s) must be completed during Year 1 of the NPTT program. Please be sure to register for the test early in order to give yourself ample time in the event that you do not pass on your first try. Tests are offered seven times per year and only in specific test sites.

Score Reporting

You will receive your score(s) from ETS via electronic download. When you receive your scores, please e-mail a copy of your scores to the NPTT office. Do not send the original score report. Put the original in a safe place. You never know when someone will ask you for an official copy of your scores. You have the only official copy, so hang on to it. Low scores on these examinations will affect your status in the program and your ability to participate in a practicum experience. You may retake a test if you do not pass.

State Requirements

Please check the state website for each individual state in which you are planning to seek licensure.
