I have a degree in Business, can I still participate in NPTT?

The subject areas identified on the chart currently the only areas in which MSU is are able to preparation students and provide recommendations for teacher licensure. If your degree contained an abundance of one of the available endorsement areas (such as certain engineering fields) you may be a candidate. Please inquire with the NPTT office prior to submitting an application. TOP

What is the difference between a major and an extended major?

Broadfield and Extended majors can stand alone for completion of the program and licensure. Meaning, you can just have one extended or broadfield major to become a licensed teacher. With a standard major you will need at least a minor endorsement area to complete go with your major. An example is if you were to have a math extended major, you would not need an accompanying minor, but if you were a math MAJOR then you would need an accompanying minor – such as physics (or any other available minor). It is recommended that you gain licensure in as many teachable areas as you are qualified for. TOP
