Financial Aid
As a Northern Plains Transition to Teaching student, you are
a graduate (degree or non-degree-teacher certification) student of Montana State
University. Because of this standing you are eligible for financial aid
most semesters. Financial aid is in the form of student loans. There
are several factors to consider when planning to receive financial aid to pay
for your NPTT courses. Since NPTT runs on a non-traditional schedule,
students are not eligible for financial aid every semester. Because of this, it
is vital that you plan accordingly when planning your aid each year.
Eligibility for financial aid is dependent upon an individual being registered
for a minimum of six credits per semester. Because of the registration
requirement, and how NPTT courses are scheduled, aid will not be awarded all
semesters in which a student is enrolled.
To obtain Financial Aid, you are required for follow the
process outlined by the Montana State University office of Financial Aid.
The process is detailed on their website at:
www.montana.edu/wwwfa. Please
do this early to ensure that your aid will be available on time.
In order to register for the required six credits per
semester, you will need to make registration arrangements to enroll in the
correct section of coursework, as per your NPTT cohort schedule (http://www.montana.edu/nptt/v1/course.html)
with the Extended University Registration Coordinator at
continuinged@montana.edu.
Please DO NOT enroll in a course that is not designated for your enrolled
cohort. Note that there are, at times, multiple cohorts enrolled, and
registration for a course that you will be taking later in a semester will be
designated for an earlier cohort. In order to register for the correct
section, you will need to contact Extended University directly to register, as
your section will not be open. This is a very confusing process, we
understand, so please feel free to contact the Academic and Student Services
Advisor with any questions.
