||The Montana State University College of Nursing, Billings Campus, is located in Apsaruke Hall on the MSU-Billings campus. This location provides space for faculty offices, staff offices, student computer lab, clinical skills lab, simulation lab, student resource room, and faculty/student conference rooms. There are two interactive video-equipped meeting/classrooms. Additional classrooms are available on the MSU-Billings Campus. Other support services on campus include the student computer center, the writing cente, the MSU-Billings library, and the student union center.
|The Billings campus is the largest of the clinical campuses, and proudly provides a dynamic learning experience to students. Forty-three percent of all MSU CON graduates statewide complete their junior and senior years on this campus! Enrollment at the Billings campus is based on available and adequate clinical learning opportunities which are appropriate to baccalaureate students. At present the Billings campus admits 40 new junior nursing students fall and spring semesters, for a total enrollment capacity of 160 juniors and seniors, as well as 24 sophomores each fall semester. We also are pleased to have a growing number of graduate students here. Administrators and faculty work closely with health care agencies in the Billings area and Eastern Montana in planning clinical experiences for students. We are proud to be able to offer a full range of clinical experiences to students for their clinical learning. This is a busy and exciting place!
There are active student forums and Montana Student Nurses Association groups on the Billings campus. These groups provide many services to students and to the Billings community. Many of our students work as Certified Nurses Assistants (CNAs) while they are students, and are offered full-time nursing positions well before they graduate. The two major regional hospitals in Billings provide numerous scholarships to nursing students. Also, a majority of our students now take advantage of AmeriCorps scholarships.
Faculty in Billings are committed to baccalaureate nursing education. At present there are 17 full-time, and 8 part time faculty, as well as two support staff – all committed to providing students with a rigorous but rewarding educational experience. We teach because we love nursing, and because we love to work with nursing students!
Welcome to the Billings campus!
The city of Billings, the largest in Montana, has a metropolitan population
of approximately 100,000, and is located between rugged mountains and sweeping
plains. The city offers all the conveniences of modern urban life, but has
retained its cultural and historical Western tradition of friendliness. Historical
sites, fishing streams, mountain trails, downhill ski runs and Yellowstone
National Park are within easy driving distance from Billings.
