Course Planning for LPNs

TLicensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may enroll in lower division nursing courses once they have accepted an upper division placement in the traditional BSN program. A specific option available to LPNs is the opportunity to waive two of the lower division nursing courses (NRSG 115 and 220) and to challenge three of the sophomore level nursing courses listed below:
   N225:  Foundations for Planning & Providing Clinical Nursing care – 4 crs
                  (both written and clinical examinations);
   N258:  Principles of Pathophysiology – 3 crs (written examination); and
   N238:  Health Assessment across the Lifespan – 4 crs (both written and clinical examinations).

College of Nursing staff are available to discuss the challenge examination process and associated costs with interested LPNs.  This information is also available in Policy C-11 on the college’s Web site at: http://www.montana.edu/nursing/pdf/C11.pdf.  Please contact Debbie McCray at (406) 994-3785 or dmccray@montana.edu for more information or to clarify specific questions.
