For staff and faculty outside of Student Affairs, the process is recommended but not required. After the student has met this requirement, it will up to the student to decide whether to pursue counseling. Ongoing counseling will not be mandatory. +*H 0.k ? ̙33 0 )( ^ S XK ) c $, M) ) The Missoula County Suicide Prevention Network is coordinated by the County Health Department, in particular by Maureen O'Malley. The Network consists of representatives from the hospitals, churches, public and private mental health providers, and the school district. Goals include decreasing stigma, increasing awareness of suicide as a preventable pubic health problem, and increasing awareness of services. Cheryl VanDenburg is a member of the Missoula SPN. Ken Welt represents the Student Affairs side of the University on both committees. The Montana State Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force was created in response to the Strategic Suicide Prevention Plan of DPHHS initiated in 2001. The Coordinator is Drenda Carlson of DPHHS in Helena. Task Force members include representatives from various counties, and members from law enforcement, mental health, churches, schools and universities, as well as survivors. Tribal and American Indian Organizations are also represented. Goals include preventing fatal and non-fatal suicidal behaviors among youth and young adults, increasing access to and community linkages with mental health and substance abuse services throughout the state, increasing awareness that suicide is a preventable public health problem, and development of a process to promote effective clinical and professional practices to oversee and support suicide prevention activities at the local and state level...6G, H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.V 0 ld( ^ S XK ,^ c $, M) , First Responder Training refers to efforts to help those members of the campus community when they become aware of the risk of suicide in a student (or other member of the community). Thus, the emphasis is on recognizing signs of suicidal ideation and intention, recognizing risk and resiliency factors, learning to support the person who is at risk while briefly easing their pain, and increasing familiarity with campus and community resources so that they may guide students to appropriate care. This training is provided annually to the staff of Residence Life. The larger the cohort of First Responders, the safer members of the community will be from suicide and non-fatal suicide attempts.H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.V], 0 @(( ^ S XK c $@ M) H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.VP D 0 (( ^ S XK , c $((, M) , H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.V`H 0 (( ^ S XK , c $0 , M) , H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.V O0 (( ^ S XK , c $;, M) , H 0.k ? ̙3380___PPT10.{W1r @x>>^h` fEj3s#pS!2@KMJPRTU+ Wwx/0l5 W̊ 61Oh+'0 px ,8@ UM Suicide Prevention Program teresa.branchEclipse srosette19Microsoft PowerPoint@Ea|@@n'U@d@WG|g 2 y--$xx--'--2$ $'*- 1 4 69;===--'ff--2$ " %(+-0222--'--%--'@"Verdana-. 2 t1."System9-@Arial-. ff-2 (UM Mental Health Services .-@"Verdana-. 2 1C Presented by .-@"Verdana-. 12 :(President George M.
